Sunday dose of humor

Today we dig into homor relating to stroke but firstly comes readers’ descretion. This column has been receiving a lot of traffic lately, with a fair share of criticism. Nonetheless, as stated before, it is not intended to reduce chronic conditions, some idiopathic, into laughable misinformations. It is rather the opposite. In fact, it is intended to ease the hardships of living with a chronic condition by stirring a laugh or two! If you are finding it hard to withstand content on this column, kindly find equally informative and more helpful content on other pages of this blog.

In a study by Heath et al of the American University of Beirut reiterates “RHD patients and their spouses reported a statistically significant decline in the patients’ orientation to humor post-stroke. Also, we found a significant positive association between a RHD patient’s ability to decode prosody and their self-reported orientation to humor post-stroke” Source. Nevertheless, types of strokes how different brain injuries affect humor is a topic for another day. Read more research here and here for further understanding. Without further ado, lets delve into stroke humor, memes, and puns because that what “Sunday dose of humor” is all about!

Here are more jokes deep from the internet for you

1. A horse walks into a bar. The barman says, ‘why the long face?’ The horse replies, ‘I had a stroke.’

2. My father had a stroke last night. While he was in his bed in the ER with slurred speech and half his face paralyzed, the nurse comes in and asks, “So, what brings you here tonight?”

“The ambulance”, he says.

3. My grandma had a stroke and her left side was affected (weak). When i got there and asked how she was feeling she said she was “all right”

4. The morning the wife was having a stroke and I remembered that I needed to act FAST I remembered that word from the advert.

F = face. Yes she has a long one

A = arms. One sided

S = speech. Cant understand her.

T =  what’s T ? “of course Tea & toast! ” I made her some!

Ofcourse the above incident is pun intended, when an individual is having a stroke, act FAST to save them and reduce level of injury. The more time, the more brain cells die. Below is the correct definition of F. A. S. T.

Face: Is it slumped on one side?

Arms: Can they raise both?

Speech: Is it slurred?

Time: To call an ambulance.

Time is of the essence in treating stroke victims. The sooner they get to A & E for a five-hour wait until a doctor becomes available the better.
